I spoke by phone with an guy at an FAA office in or around London last year. I don't have the number, and the BT.com web site is not very useful. I was living in Richmond so they must have been in that phone book. Not much help I know, but you should not give up quickly.

As far as I know they are still at West Drayton (see FAA London )
but they do NOT have a airman certification section (if that is what you wanted)

The nearest office for pilot issues is the New York International Field Office.

Thanks - rang them and as suggested here their is no FAA licence admin facility in the UK ....

Not any more. Time was you could convert your CAA PPL to an FAA reciprocal over here.

Sadly, you now need to be in the USA to do so.

I've been told (don't believe it) that there are FAA Examiners in the UK who could take you for a full FAA PPL checkride here.

The Faa office is at Gatwick I think try 0208 7548819

Keef 26th June 2002 23:16

Ah, Cusco, but the Baron is a CFII so can take you for a BFR including your IR. He can't do an initial issue checkride - or I don't think he can, anyway.

I was told of another well-known (in Essex) CFI who is rumoured to be an FAA examiner. I doubt it, but would be happy to be proved wrong.

I suppose we could try to ship Dominic over for a week or so to deal with them all? ;)
