SkyDemon

Hi, I searched the existing threads without finding an answer to my doubt:
is it possible to create one or more working areas on SkyDemon charts?

GBEBZ 26th November 2015 15:49

define what you mean by "working areas" ???

You might get an official answer on their own forums here:

Hi Zio Nick,

SkyDemon has the facility to create custom data such as airspace and airfields as well as a variety of other data-points. This feature is only in the PC version (since it is fairly heavily reliant on the precision of mouse-point-and-click) but you can use the cloud storage functionality to transfer this data across to your mobile devices.

Lots of instructors/trainers create these areas for various different purposes, and we use it internally when airspace is not sufficiently well described in our automatic AIP data feed.

It is possible and it is called custom data.

My apologies, it seems I have left questions unanswered here...

For working area I intend a limitation of the local airspace where pilots can either do sightseeing or practice manoeuvres/procedures/aerobatics without the risk to interfere with other aircraft.

At the location where I am currently flying there are 5 areas that can be assigned for practising, since the corners are not perfectly identified by natural points or characteristic structures, it becomes of course important to have a precise visual clue on a moving map.

I tried the Skydemon tool for PC, but it is not really easy nor intuitive to use. Moreover Skydemon team do not provide instructions to define polygons as the feature is not supported by their development team.

I am still open to smart suggestions...

Plan a route using waypoints on the perimeter of the defined area, then fly inside that?

Zio Nick,

I work for SkyDemon, so if you have any specific questions about creating these airspace polygons, please feel free to send me a PM.

Obviously we cant support custom data creation in depth since there are a myriad of different applications, but I could give you some pointers.

Thanks for your availability Bobby, today I made some progress but I will definitely return to you, first I want to try to cope by myself..
