St Athan
 
I want to pick someone up and take them for a birthday treat on Saturday, their nearest airfield is St Athan. Has anybody any experience of flying in/out?

Much easier to use Cardiff airport.

Was in there a couple of weeks ago
Is owned by the MOD so need Ppr which involves sending them your insurance etc
Closes at 5pm
however very friendly and no real issues
Cardiff coordinate a straight in visual approach and departure if you want it
Very cheap fuel and landing fees
some interesting aircraft based there Hunters, jps etc
