:{How long should it take for the CAA to issue an NPPL after the LAA have forwarded the paperwork?
Anyone out there know of how to complain to the CAA?
I have been waiting over 5 weeks.

Probably about 2 Weeks. Don't even bother complaining. You can give them a ring and see if they're willing to give details on your application though.

Congratulations on your NPPL.

Complain to your MP.

Complain to whoever leads the Red Tape Challenge.

Complain to the LAA.

Complain to the NPPL steering group.

If it makes you happy. Complain.

If you want anything done, forget it.

If you want a reaction, use fruity anglo-saxon language when talking to the CAA and they will try and prosecute you for assault! (at least so implies their telephone message)

Hi B'dog. Welcome to PPRuNe, and to the real world of dealing with our lovely CAA.

Although the actual work to issue a Licence can easily be done in an hour, I usually advise people to wait at least 4 weeks before even enquiring with the CAA, and to expect it to take around 6 weeks.

As others have said here, complaining to, or about the CAA is a complete waste of time, as they have no effective oversight, and so they don't need to, nor do they, give a toss how bad their service is.

Ps. When your Licence arrives, don't forget to sign it, and take it straight to the CFI of your Flying School and have him/her check that they have printed it correctly!

Let the LAA know - you might be surprised! Call the CAA and see if there is a problem first.

I recently applied for an EASA license to add to my UK CAA PPL. Filled all the forms in and used an LAA coach to countersign etc. Got a lot of unintelligible comments back from the CAA, LAA coach pointed out chapter and verse how the application complied with the regulations and copied in several other CAA people not originally on the email list. License appeared almost immediately.:ok:

I saw an interesting licence issued on 17 June 2015, there was no signature or name of the issuing officer in Section X and no CAA stamp in Section XI.

I've spotted a number with similar issues. Also a recent CAA audit of our ATO picked up an instructors licence not signed by the CAA.

My recent experience! PPL SEP revalidation after several years non flying.
Applied for revalidation and conversion to EASA after passing recurrent training and proficiency check. All paperwork in order and posted to CAA with cheque for £78 as specified in their website according to the FTO I used. After about three weeks, received receipt for £78. A further couple of weeks and I phoned them. They said I owed them a further £80! Duly paid over the phone there and then. Another three weeks and I phoned again. Assured me it was all in order and should be issued at end of that week. I queried the extra cost saying that the website indicated that I had paid the correct fee originally. They said website must be wrong!?! Eventually, license arrived after another two weeks.
Just pleased to have it!! Two and a half months in total!
