Watch and Weep.

About 400k. Worth it.

Kairys' Cobra

"Now, let's go through that again... full power, hold 2ft, 12g pull, then -10g push to level off at, oh, say 100ft..."

Last year word was he's done with flying and is pursuing a career in politics. If he's changed his mind, and anyone knows where one can get to see Kairys fly this year, please let me know.

You can do that in a Yak 52. OK, not with such a violent pull-up (the drag at that very high A of A must sap most of the available energy). In a '52 just take off. hold it down to about 10 feet as the gear comes up and it accelerates rapidly and you need more and more forward stick to hold it level. When the trees at the far end are filling the screen, relax the forward stick pressure and you will go straight up several hundred feet.

Lovely aeroplane ;~))

[edited out of respect to SSD cos' I didn't read his reply properly...]

Yup, it's the AoA that really makes this different - the pull up is so extreme he's still moving in the X axis whilst nearly vertical (and then there's the bizarre way in which he returns to level flight.) . I'm guessing he's leveraging a bit of his ability to 'prop hang' the Sukhoi...

Helicoptering down the River Neris

Then there's his personal altitude limit...

"Nine Inches. I can't go any lower."

Of course, it's the bridges he's known for. Here's one of 'the ten bridges of Vilnius'...

Kairys' on Bridges

The bloke is a genius, and should be dragged back to his Sukhoi cockpit for one, last, hugely televised outing, before he disappears into aviation legend.

[For more about him, take a look at Jonas Dovydenas excellent articles care of Seqair. Google will get you there.]
