Level 6 English for a French PPL in the UK
Does anyone know how a French PPL can do an EASA approved Level 6 English language test for non-commercial PPL use in the UK, preferably near Exeter?

Native English speaker?

Although EASA requires Language Proficiency to be entered on to
a Licence, they left how that proficiency should be assessed to the Competent Authorities. As you have a French PPL you would need an English Language Proficiency assessment which would be accepted by the French CAA. Check what their requirements are before undertaking an assessment in the UK. |
No, French native speakers.
I'm returning a favour to the Paris flying club, who want to take advantage of a recent French rule change that allows them to visit England to get there Level 6 English qualification. Here's what my French chums think is the situation (DGAC I think is the French CAA): "I spoke with a representative from the DGAC. All we need, as simple PPL, is a british FE/TRE that give us the level we deserve, and then we can apply it to our PPL license. As long its a FE/TRE, we dont need to go thru a FTO. Let me know if you find locally a FE/TRE." Level 6 is attractive to a French PPL I think because it's a lifetime qualification to fly outside of France. The trouble is, I haven't found an instructor here so far who's ready and willing to do the test. |
