Dunno what the taxi drivers are like round your way, but most places ...
I was actually referring to the Public Works department, which I somehow expect to have slightly higher standards than the taxi industry. But my reasoning will apply to the taxi industry as well, as long as you replace "English" with "Slang". They'll find, or evolve into a common language that works for them.
