Public or Private CofA. Whats the difference?

I was wondering what is the effective difference between Public and Private CofA, for say a Cessna 172N?

I realise that the plane can only be used commercially with a Public CofA, but is there any difference in the servicing arrangements, and charges?
Also are the 'parts lifetimes' any different?

Public and Private C of A ceased to exist in 2006! Maintenance is now the key to what you can use an aeroplane for.

It never fails to astound me that the old regulations seem to live on for so long !

Hi Whopity, does that mean that every aircraft (including the Private and Permit planes) are now available for Flying School use for training purposes?

You can't use a permit aircraft on a flying school.

For aircraft with a C of A it depends on maintenance issues, the big one being that the engine can't have run past TBO + 20% or calendar life + 20%.
