3M Tape on the leading edges + struts
 

After noticing the underside of the tailwheel spring is basically getting sandblasted from dirt/gravel on TO, i have bought a roll of 3M clear tape, plan on putting it on the leading edge of the wing and tail struts and stabilizer anyone have any thoughts pro/con on this?

Might be an interesting experiment particularly if you did a before & after trial, and using dimpled (like a golf ball) tape.


A couple of years back someone said like golf balls, dimpled props became more efficient and this year I heard of wings too benefitting. Might be easier to apply in sections for experimental progressive coverage before fully committing ?
I'd hoped to hear more of that idea from enthusiastic U.S. home builders, but it faded away.

Could well be a real market for selling efficiency ehancement combined with erosion protection and a darned sight better than sticking on vortex gennys to boot.
