Norway lengthwise in a Cub (pics)
I fly in a vintage flying club, and we operate two ex-Norwegian Army Cubs, two Tiger Moths, a PT-19 Cornell and a Chipmunk, and some of our pilots also fly a privately-owned Bird Dog, a Broussard and a T-6 Texan. All those planes flew from Kjeller Airport (ENKJ) to Bodø (ENBO) in northern Norway last weekend for an airshow. This is a flight of about 500nm. I fly the Tiger Moths and the Cubs the most, and I flew the Cub for this trip. Just thought I'd show you some pics of the beautiful Norwegian coastline, and our planes :)
In addition to that, I got to meet a Norwegian WWII Spitfire pilot, who commanded 332 sqdn at North Weald, Wilhelm Mohr. He signed the baggage hatch of one of our Tiger Moths, alongside the signature of Eric "Winkle" Brown, which I got last weekend at another airshow :) http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060056.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060059.jpg Fuel stop at Brønnøysund (ENBN) http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060062.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060063.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060064.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060066.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060067.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060071.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060075.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060083.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060084.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060085.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...2/P1060133.jpg |
Good grief, what a pretty set of airframes in a spectacularly beautiful part of the world.

Great pictures and story - thanks for posting them.

Beautiful pictures, great scenery and visibility, superbly-preserved aircraft. Well done!
Cheers  |
Flott bilder, skal se om jeg ikke får tatt meg en Cubtur i Norge selv i sommer :)

Bodo Trip
Stunning photos - well done ! A part of the world I saw a couple of years ago when I travelled from Bergen to Kirkenes on a Hurtigruten ferry (a trip well worth doing). I visited the Bodo air museum during the 3 hours in port, and what a great little museum it is too. Bizarrely, the lady on reception was from Dartford if I recall - she met a Norwegian airforce officer in London and now lives there - I presume he works in the bunker complex under the airport !

The Hurtigruten sea journey is described as the world's most beautiful sea journey. It certainly is, and that makes our flight the world's most beautiful flight :D |
Stunning photos.

"stunning" simply does not do it justice. Fantastic. If you are in the UK we at Felthorpe have a Chipmunk and a Tiger and Hornet Moth. Pay us a visit.

I keep meaning to fly to Trondheim but the weather is very variable up that way. |
