PPL renewal & RT Licence

Hi Folks,

Just want some advice because I have done a search on here and I'm getting conflicting statements. Also read Lasors so just want to confirm some things.

When I renew my jar ppl licence after 5 years then I only need to have a valid class 1 or 2 medical and a SEP Rating which has not expired by more than 5 years ie it doesnt have to be valid at the time of renewing a ppl licence??? True or False?

When I renew my ppl licence my RT licence which expires at the same time will be renewed along with my ppl licence? True or False?

Thanks

P1.

TRUE, you need to use CAA form SRG1102 SRG1102: Private/Professional Flight Crew Licence Renewal - Application | Publications | CAA

within which section #4 contains

In order to renew your licence, you are required to have held a valid aircraft rating for any type/class rating that has not expired by more
than 5 years*, and a medical certificate appropriate to the licence being re-issued valid for the first day of issue of the new licence.
you will also need to send them a copy of your medical certificate and most importantly a payment form SRG1187 SRG1187: PLD Payment Method Form | Publications | CAA

Thanks for that mrmum.

How about the RT licence, it will expire at the same time as my ppl licence, is it just a form filling and payment exercise or do I have to sit any practical tests in order to renew my RT licence??

Thanks again.

From LASORS Section B, 1.5:

Where a FRTOL is issued in conjunction with another UK issued flight crew licence the validity period of the FRTOL will be the same as the flight crew licence to which it is associated. If the associated flight crew licence is allowed to expire, the FRTOL shall be valid for a period not greater than 10 years from the last renewal/revalidation of the flight crew licence.

Where a FRTOL is issued/renewed in conjunction with a UK flight crew licence, no charge is made for the issue of a FRTOL.

Thanks Slopey.

Yeah I read that in Lasors, so I gather then that there is no need for any renewal tests which is good, its just a form filling exercise to renew frtol.

Cheers!
