hiring a cirrus in the boston area
I am would like to take a trip round the NE USA this summer during the period 25th July to 5th August, ideally in a cirrus. Does anyone have any recommendations/ suggestions as to where to hire one for that period?

Maybe East Coast Aeroclub Cirrus SR20 | East Coast Aero Club
I have not rented from them but have several times from New York Performance Flight - Home if that is any help contact Lewis. |
East Coast Aero is a great place, I fly out of there. Great maintenance and everything, but it will be pretty expensive (depending on how long you want the plane for). It's $225/hr you fly it, and you are billed for at least 3 hours a day.

Berich, if that is the wet rate then cheap compared to the UK
Last year I paid around $240 p hour wet from Air orlando for an SR22 |
Would it be worth contacting the Cirrus Owners & Pilots Association (Cirrus Owners and Pilots Association) ?

just a warning - SR20/22 are considered high risk from an insurance point of view, I know about the place where you need to have 400 (I really mean 4-0-0) hours of total time to get SR20. Itīs driven purely by insurance policy, not by club decision

FYI
I see that you want to fly in the North East of the US. Depending on where you call the NE, some areas are very congested and difficult to fly into or around because of all the controlled airspace. Also, don't forget Washington DC is now a very restricted area, you have to have special training and pass the exam to be allowed to fly in the area. I believe you can do it all online, but I havn't done it yet.
I just did a search for rentals online, lots of place show up so I would suggest doing a google search and then look for one in the area where you want to be anyways. Goodluck! |
