FAA Licence conversion

Hi

I faxed my forms off to the FAA along with copies of my licence etc. to get an FAA PPL based on my JAR-FCL one. I want to go over to Arizona to build some hours next month.

I am keen to bnook the aircraft/flights/hotel etc. but I dont know whether I will get the letter to take to the FSDO in time. Does anyone have a phone number for the correct department of the FAA so I can at least check the have received all the documents they need? I have tried looking on the FAA website but couldnt seem to find it.

Regards

Arizona FSDO, which I assume you nominated when you sent your documents to the FAA is:Scottsdale17777 North Perimeter Drive
Scottsdale, Az 85255(480) 419-0111
If that isn't the one, go to the FAA site, and enter FSDO in the search box. You can choose your state to get the address, etc.

do not waste time calling to Scotsdale - call directly to Oklahoma, they are processing your request and once done send to Scottsdale. Make sure you wait for a letter arriving to your home address. And please also notice that FAA in Scottsdale is not at the airport, use google maps to have direction, there is no big flashing label FAA....

You can call the FAA directly in Oklahoma on the following number:
FAA foreign licence verification*
Ask for Ryan or Lisa
00-1-(405)-954-1890

I'm likely to be spending some time in the US next year. Can anyone advise what's required to get a standalone Airman's Certificate (not a 61.75 one) if you already hold an ICAO PPL. I've had a skim through the FAR's and it's not immediately obvious what's needed.

Thanks for the replies.

noblue, thats exactly what I was after, many thanks.:ok:

I have done all the correct forms and contacted the CAA. I am aware of the procedure but just wanted to check that the FAA in Oklahoma had received all my paperwork as i dont trust fax machines. Why we cant email it I do not know.

Thanks again

Cross country (distances correct), night experience etc sometimes catches people out.
Yep. I printed out my Garmin FlightBook, showing x-c mileage, as my log book only shows flight duration. A spreadsheet would be just as useful.

I got all the material mentioned by SoCal APP and did practice exams on Pilot Practice Page

Many Thanks SoCal, just what I needed.

I'll probably have a J2 visa and I intend to check with TSA re clearance as their position appears to be to require the checks if the training is going to increase your competence, e.g. PPL to CPL or IR. It's going to be Savannah Ga, Home to Hard Hearted Hanna and a ramp full of rather tasty bizjets.
