Laser Dogfights

Has anyone heard of those dogfights they have where you fire a laser at the other plane which has a light detector on it andit says if u got them or not? I think they have it in america or something.
Does anyone know of any of those in England?
How much is it? is it good?
Isnt it easy to get the other guy as u do not have to allow for deflection because the laser goes at the speed of light?

North Weald occasionally runs a formation flying and air combat school using Yak 52s (though I think that you have to bring your own). I am not sure that they use lasers. You could ring the Squadron and enquire: 01992 524510.

There is a place in (I think) the Czech Republic that does the laser thing.

Tigger
If you really want people to shine lasers at you, you could try flying into Redhill. See thread below. :) :) :)

An outfit next to us in Kissimme FL (Now moved away) called Dogfight USA or someting, They used those Italian singles, "Marchetties" ??? T'was a laser on them, but outside the visible spectrum, they were fixed, but I think anything from Mustang period onward had gyro mounted target recticals, to do lead calculations (Point and shoot). About $600/hr. don't know about them in the UK (CAA alowing any fun in a plane? just not right :))

Tiger Moth, I think this is the sort of thing you're looking for...

It's not cheap though and it's in the states, don't know of anything in the UK but if you do find out about something then please let me know, quite fancy a go at that.

Hi,

The outfit is called Air Combat USA, and they operate out of Fullerton in California, Arizona (I think) and also Florida, Kissemmee. The aircraft used are SIA- MARCIETTI SF260 (I think) and they do a full half day package which consists of the follwoing:

Full combat scenario briefing
Flight time with experienced combat instructor (Normally 'Nam veteran) with video footage of both your "kills" against the other aircraft, and of you "in the hot seat" from the cockpit.

I think that last time I checked it was about $400 inclusive. It could have gone up by now. By all accounts it is a good experience, but if you are just thrill seeking, I would suggest an aerobatic sortie out of Booker!

Cheaper, and more smiles per miles.

There's a similar outfit in Canada operating out of St. Catharines (CYSN)- the airport operator should have info on 'em.
