Ballooning

Hersh's mother has asked for a trip in a balloon for her sixtieth birthday...

Can anyone suggest a contact for a good place to start? Preferably located somewhere Southwest (UK), but anywhere South is fine.

Cheers!

Hersh

Hersh,

A pal of mine has just got a champagne flight for an hour for GBP169 / head.

He got his from balloonsoverthenorth.co.uk. Don't be put off by the name, they are part of a group which covers the whole UK. Have a snout around on Google, that's where he got the name from.

Happy balloonaticing

Who has control? 11th February 2002 15:20

I had a balloon ride a few years ago - it was good fun. Forget the low-flying rule though, I reckon we were nearer 500' feet than 1500'. I wasn't too keen on the 4:00 am. start either. We went with an East Anglian company, but Virgin used to have a balloon-ride outfit too.

Are you going to go too? Its a great way to travel, very quiet, very peaceful but the landings are horrendous.

Hersham Boy, start with a quick look in your local yellow pages then telephone at least three companies. Decide who sounds the friendliest and DO ask if your money is refundable in the eveny of too many weather cancellations.

I can not agree with 'Who has control', a good pilot will give you a good landing, a bad pilot.....well??

Also go as well, it really IS great fun (by the way the ONLY way to fly a balloon is BELOW 500 feet :) :)

Good luck

Thanks for the tips, chaps - especially DOC

I might well be going along as well, depending on dates etc. Be nice to enjoy the flying experience without a set of DC's clamped to your head!

Oh, and grab a rifle to shoot the balloons if you want her back............

Hersham Boy,

Yellow Pages is certainly good, but the BBAC site might also be of interest in locating a commercial operator. Try: http://www.bbac.org/

Recommend that you take yourself along as well and then come back and tell us all about it!
