RT Practical

G'day folks

I am going over to the states to do my PPL. Many of the schools I have looked at cannot include the RT practical, because they don't have the facilites. As such, I may (depending on choice of school) have to take the RT practical upon my return to the UK.

My question is, can I take the JAA Skills test out in the US without an RT license. Is this legal, or do I have to take the skills test in the UK as well?

Any answers/advice most welcome.

Thx,
Red

Hi,

Call the guys at British Airways Flying Club at Wycombe (Booker) on 01494 529262. See also http://www.bafc.co.uk

They do RT practical exams, and I'm sure they can advise you on the question you ask.

Hope this helps,

Andy

The RT Licence is an entirely separate licence to the PPL and is not a pre-requisite for taking the Skill Test. Having said that, you do have to take the Communications (RT)written examination as part of the PPL course and have to display a reasonable standard of RT on your Skill Test.

If you have the opportunity, you would be well advised to do the RT licence before you go rather than when you return.

RF,

I nearly ran out of time to do my RT before my skills test. I was told that if the worst came to the worst i could do it after my skills test.

Good Luck
