Rebuild Project Wanted

I'm looking for an interesting rebuild project, preferably a type with some timber involved.

If you know of anything (non-PFA) that's gathering dust in a hangar or mouldering on the tie downs I would very much like to hear about it.

Genghis the Engineer 28th September 2000 16:15

If it's not a daft question, why on earth do you want something non-PFA. They are likely to be the only people able to approved the repair schemes, etc. without charging you more than the aeroplane is worth?

There are a handful of slowly mouldering Dragon Rapides at Chirk (Oswestry) that might be worth checking out.

Fancy a P-38. There are two of them at Biggin Hill with the same owner. One is beyond repair, the other needs parts and some work. You might get a job lot out of the guy. If you're interested, e-mail me and I'll send you the details.
I would echo GtheE's comments. Far safer and better with the PFA....Having said that, the P-38s are Certificate aircraft! :)

They're Tomahawks not Lightnings, so I suppose the above should read PA-38s.... http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/redface.gif

There is an Ercoupe and a large Jodel slowly decomposing in a barn in Suffolk. The owner is a farmer (so he probably wants really silly money for them!!)
if interested drop me a note and I'll put you in touch.

Thanks folks, e-mails winging their way.

The reason I don't want a PFA type is that the plan is to have the aircraft on line with the local club/school afterward. If it were just for my use then I'd bo looking for a nice replica SE5 or Mustang or Spitfire or.........droooooooooooooolllllllllllll :)

Genghis the Engineer 29th September 2000 14:16

Whilst you need a C of A for teaching, there's nothing to stop an aircraft on a permit being syndicated up to 20 ways within a club.

Thanks Genghis. The idea would be to have the school use it too.

Flintstone, have you been down the "renting a plane to a school route" before? If you haven't, make sure the contract is bullet proof, watertight and covers your financial a*se in every possible way. I've tried it. If you want to talk about it, drop me an e-mail.

No wood but there's a possibilty of a Zlin 526 if you're interested. No engine and it won't be straightforward on the paperwork side, but airframe is sound.

Thanks L & S, I've e-mailed you.

DB6. All possibilities being considered at the moment. Any further details appreciated.

rightstuffer, I was getting excited about the 2 P38's until you qualified it!

rightstuffer 2nd October 2000 02:34

Psssst!

Do you a nice used X-15 Squire?

One little old lady owner, never done more than Mach 5 and still got its original paint. Know what I mean Squire?

I'll frow in a g-suit and a year's worth of B-52 launches at cost. Can't say fairer 'n that guv!

....er, it is cash, Mr LowNSlow, isn't it.....?
