Wing Waggling(?)
Wing waggling.
Something that I've just read on the R22/Whirlybird's rotary thread made me wonder if we all do it and if not what do we do! Unrestricted airspace - you see another flying machine - it gets closer, it waggles it's wing and you do likewise OR you waggle first and nothing happens, you take gentle avoiding action (knowing that he is at least a mile away) and continue to waggle... It is so comforting when he knows that you've seen him and you know that he knows that he's been seen, or visce versa. Do we all do it, or do we do something different? sNr |
Well I waggle mine, but if I don't get a waggle in return I never know if it's because I haven't been seen or because the other bloke's thinking 'What's that prat waggling his wings for?'
|
I waggle but take avoiding action if there is no reply and a risk of collision. Whirlybird, what would you do in a helo to signify seeing another aircraft?
|
Ummmmm....haven't a clue. In a R22 you assume they haven't seen you anyway, cos they rarely do, and keep out of the way.
|
I dont see any reason to waggle anything in the air as I dont do that on the ground. Al. http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif What are you like? if that was you today you were flying too damn fast too waggle anything your bloody wings would have come off.:eek

Whirlybird does the change in your name mean you are now flying Bell 47s as in the T.V. series which I remember from the 60s ouch that hurts?Or have you had a sex change if thats the case whats it like being a girl, do all the captains want you to sit on their lap? http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif Please dont be offended just having fun Martin.

Fallen Eagle: Nope, not flying Bell 47s - nice idea though. Not had a sex change - started off as a girl anyway. Just fancied changing my name, that's all.
|
F/E - already told you -it wasn't me you saw today, gerrit, I was working from home! :)
Anyway - you know that I don't fly that well! R22 has always been a girlie- as her posts on an alternative (but duller)BB prove, however I still feel that Whirlybird is an infinitely superior "sobriquet". F/E - see you soon? sNr |
