Fly-In

Somebody mentioned White Waltham as a good venue for a fly-in on a different thread.

Anybody up for it? My permit application is in and the wings didn't fall off in the Vne dive so I'm ready. Anybody else fancy it? Anybody got a good date to do it?

rightstuffer 24th February 2001 04:12

WW's good for me - nice venue. Annual just completed, tanks filled and bank emptied. (Have overdraft- will travel).
What about weekend 10/11 March?

PS How are the new struts bearing up LnS?

stiknruda 24th February 2001 13:53

WW W/E 10/11 OK.

Stik

New Bloke 24th February 2001 14:27

I'm up for it.

DOC.400 25th February 2001 07:09

I'm up for it as it's homebase!! (Not Sainsbury's!)

Let me know if I can help with catering/separate room etc./landing fees?

Regards, it's a good choice!!

PS I can be there on the 10th

LowNSlow 27th February 2001 00:57

WE 10/11 should be good for me with the usual weather caveats.

The struts are fine thanks. They didn't let go in the Vne dive so they must be OK :)

New Bloke 3rd March 2001 21:59

So that is next weekend then. What day are we doing it?

rightstuffer 3rd March 2001 22:26

Coo - I hate hard questions. http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/eek.gif
What about - er - Saturday or -er - Sunday?
(Not necessarily in that order.....) http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/confused.gif

stiknruda 3rd March 2001 22:28

Sorry chaps - I'll be in Jo'burg seeing my bestest friend. Full details available in African Aviation (Pitts Crash).

Captain Airclues 3rd March 2001 23:19

WW is my home airfield. Excellent venue.
How do we recognise a PPRuNe arrival?

Airclues

DOC.400 4th March 2001 15:30

I'll wear my discrete Pprune badge -that'll test yer eyesight!!!
Call up Pprune fly-in on taxi in and I'll arrange parking north of the pumps or on the west line for all.

Genghis the Engineer 4th March 2001 23:26

Good idea, time I froze my nadgers off in the flexwing again - I'll see if the weather and Mrs Genghis will let me out to play.

G

rightstuffer 5th March 2001 01:35

Capt Airclues - the best way to spot a PPRuNe arrival is to count the bounces. http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/cool.gif
(Percy himself would never consider less than three......)

Captain Airclues 5th March 2001 02:04

rightstuffer

If my memory serves me correctly, they were never able to use the aircraft again after one of Percy's landings. :)

FNG 5th March 2001 15:44

I agree that in honour of the great ppercy, all prrune pparticipants in the pproposed pparty should pperform landings that "they can walk away from".

pps I bounced so much when checking out in a Cub at Waltham on Saturday that I have pprobably done enough 90 day landings to carry forward for the duration of my licence.

I shall try to come to the fly in in a ppup

LowNSlow 5th March 2001 23:43

I can only make it on Sunday. How about 12:30 ish (precision planning here). The forecast for Saturday is apparently pooh anyway.

I'll be in a yellow Cub G-BEUI. If spotted in the bar I'm the one with a bald patch, Vintage Piper Club badge and a Marlboro.

Rusty Cessna 7th March 2001 05:19

LNS!

You fly a Cub!! I think I love you (in the agapeic way of course!)

Unfortunately, wont have me PPL by then, but enjoy it one and all!

rightstuffer 7th March 2001 21:13

Sunday it is then....midday.
I'll be in Grumman Cheetah G-MOGI; and I'll be the one ordering /eating / re-ordering bacon butties..... http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/cool.gif

LowNSlow 8th March 2001 02:01

Sounds like I'll be in the queue behing you rs!

RC, agapeic? What the Hell is that? :)

See you all on Sunday.

Rusty Cessna 8th March 2001 02:32

LNS,

Means paternal type love, is greek, used mainly in terms of male-male bondind-strictly not homosexual!

Rusty

DOC.400 8th March 2001 15:30

Can't make Sunday, which is why I suggested Sat at the beginning of the thread! However, hope to be there for lunch on SATURDAY, if anybody is coming, let me know!!

Regards

PS RC, you swallowed Roget's Thesaurus?

New Bloke 8th March 2001 18:24

No Can do Sunday (West Ham v Spurs) but if the weather is good I will be there mid dayish on Sat.

LowNSlow 9th March 2001 23:54

Thanks for clarifying that RC!

Pity we can't all make it on the same day. I'm sure that the glorious summer we ARE GOING TO HAVE will allow a meet at a later date.

Who will be there on Sunday apart from me?

Beagler 10th March 2001 00:08

I can try for Saturday but Sunday is out for me... but with my luck in attending these fly-in thingies don't count on it!

Genghis the Engineer 10th March 2001 01:10

Having just surveyed the forecast carefully, I'm not convinced that either day is much of a goer. However, if I'm wrong, hopefully see you chaps there.

G

LowNSlow 10th March 2001 04:04

The forecast for Sunday seems to be better than Saturday. I'll give it a shot if it's good enough. I'm aiming to be there around 12:30. If you're going for it then email me for my mobile number and we can play spot the ringing sound as a guide to meeting up :)

New Bloke 10th March 2001 14:24

If this mist clears we will be trying, I then aim to do Booker, Elstree, stapleford and back to Redhill.

Hopefully we will be there about 13.00

rightstuffer 10th March 2001 15:13

I'm still on - hope to be there late morning on Sunday.

New Bloke 11th March 2001 02:26

The winds were supposed to be 220/10, they were more 250/30 so even getting the Fuji out of the hangar seemed pointless. There was scud about 600' so at about 13:30 the pub seemed the best place to be.

I hope those going tomorrow have better luck.

LowNSlow 11th March 2001 02:49

Looks like it's just me and Rightstuffer tomorrow if the wx is better than today.

Rs, e-mail me with your mobile number. I t would be a shame if 2 Ppruners were there and didn't meet up!

LowNSlow 13th March 2001 01:11

Ah well, at least the Cub got the clean and polish I've been meaning to do for ages.....

stiknruda 15th March 2001 23:19

Couldn't make last w/e and it would appear that few of you could, too!

Anyone want to try again this w/e if the wx is good.

WW was the venue but would be happy to go anywhere within about 30 miles of WW.

Stik

who is itching to go out and play

Beagler 16th March 2001 01:18

Yeah... I'd be up for Saturday... also itching to do some.

B

LowNSlow 17th March 2001 01:00

Stuffed for Saturday. Up for Sunday though. Any takers for an attempt to invade WW again around lunchtime - early afternoon?

rightstuffer 17th March 2001 03:14

Me! WW, Sunday lunchtime. BTOBS

arrow2 17th March 2001 13:27

If I can get the aircraft and wx is OK I will be there.

A2

LowNSlow 18th March 2001 06:49

Wx not great for tomorrow but maybe workable. I'm going to try if I can.

LowNSlow 18th March 2001 15:47

Ah well, crap again

arrow2 19th March 2001 00:43

Makes a change!! Spring nearly here LNS!!
