Time limits for PPL Completion?.....
 

Hi all, I'm a bit confused and am looking for some help.....

I completed 20hrs towards my PPL last July (flying scholarship), and have not had any (official) lessons since, just flown with friends and had some air experience flying.

My question is this: Do I have to complete all of (ie up to and including final skills test) or only parts of the PPL sylabus within a year? I have heard many conflicting answers to this question and am in need of a concrete answer as time is (possibly) running out! http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/confused.gif I have looked into going back to the airport where I did my F/Schol for a couple of weeks and completing the remainder of my PPL, but I am a bit short on funds at the mo. I am desperately keen to hang on to the 20hrs I have had already as I can't afford to lose them, but am concerned that my time is running out! http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/frown.gif

I have also passed 3 of the written exams (human perf., air law, and technical exam) do these 'expire' too or not?

Flying time does not expire, however you may have to 'refresh' on flying training to date, however you should still be able to pass after 45hrs if you are a 'good un'.

Exams do expire, you have 12 months to pass Skill Test after passing them, if air law has expired you will also have to re-take prior to going solo again.

If exams were taken some time ago, syllabus could have also changed from CAA to JAA.

Not quite right. You have 12 months in which to pass all of the exams and then they are valid for a further 24 months from the date of passing the last one for licence issue. After that you take them all again.
