holding back
Hi. I have not sent any posts in recently though I have been on site and observing. There seems to be fewer posts fron instructors and alike recently.Having observed the recent arguments of one particular thread it seems that more than one of us has lost our enjoyment of the site. This is a shame I find the only way to deal with this is to stay away from posting and observe. The promlem as I see it is aviation is actually quite diverse and although we are all avid aviators bcause our backgrounds are so different there is bound to be upset!!!When I first discovered the site I found it most rewarding but I notice fewer and fewer posts from the people of 6 months ago.Or is it me bye for now

Well some of us are still around, fallen eagle :)
I think quite a lot of people register on the forums, post a lot while it's still a bit of a novelty, then gradually read and post less. When this forum was new everyone was really enthusiastic about its existence; now it's just normal and always there and they have other things to do. They're probably still here though. On your other point, I've been reading and observing and hoping that the flaming and slagging off so common on other forums isn't going to spread to this one; we had remained free of it for a while. I bet someone will respond that it's occasionally necessary. maybe, but only OCCASIONALLY. But some of us are PPRuNe addicts and we'll probably stick around whatever happens. :) ------------------ Whirly To fly is human, to hover, divine. |
I'm still here Fallen Eagle!!
BTW, Hi Whirl!! |
Boo!

Wow that was a quick response nice to hear from you Whirly B and co.You guys got no work to do either?only joking I still love the site for all the info that comes outand all the help and experience that is bottled up.I am getting as frustrated as hell no flying for a couple of weeks. Its a hell of a shock to the system for someone used to flying hour after hour a day.Just seen a job advertised localy as observer in police support unit, might go for it what do you reckon, maybe skycop would advise, might even become friends & even crew together. If you are out there SKYCOP and can cope with conversing with me after the Xponder post, perhaps you will give me the lowdown on the job. ALL you guys back to work now and you Whirly, Bye for now

Fallen Eagle - Mart matey I'm still here too, just haven't posted too much as many of the threads don't inspire me to do so!
Had a lovely trip today down to London and back by self controlled aerial conveyance. Without your help some years ago I would not have been able to achieve that! Thank you. Stik |
I've got a proper job now so fewer posts!
Hi Whirly, how's things? Got the Cub back in the air, had a half hour on Friday to get my 3 to's and landings in. Now waiting for my medical. |
I'm still here too...
I think (here we go ;) ) that part of the problem is nobody until kabz has come up with a really good student problem (eg. I don't know what to do when etc.,.. how do I enjoy flying etc)that only an experienced instructor can answer really well. I still enjoy reading, but have also posted less. Occasionally I do just so I don't go insane on rainy days. Or even worse, perfectly fine days when nobody wants to fly! That hangar needs sweeping again, I'm sure of it... I've started to enjoy the Private Flying forum a bit more too, Instructor's is a bit skinny and I can't think of anything to fill it with... |
Thanks guys I was starting to get a bit despondent about prune,we all know that its a great site, sorry you are having a rough time Beagler you have supported quite a few of us in the past myself included PLEASE DONT ESCAPE you have a valuable contribution to make. Thanks Stik (Al)always nice to know one has helped someone along the way.Would be good to know Andys progress if you get time as the media has probably said all its going to. Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings------------Put out my hand and touched the face of God. High Flight by John McGee.. Chicken 6 hope you are still flying safely good to hear from you even though we had a bad start to our relationship, Bye for now

I am new. I find the forum very informative if you cut through the slagging off. But you are right, some of the topics have been a little depressing of late, accidents, airline job losses, takeovers, mergers.......
But then along come the Bashes and the talk of merriment with a few mates. Now thats brings some joy to the heart. I too am here to stay. Thanks to all the people involved with keeping this site 'alive'. Noodle Edit cause I am a shokin speler and me gramma aint too good eva! Fallen Eagle,
I haven't seen the advert you refer to and As far as I am aware, no UK ASU employs observers who aren't already serving police officers and the competition for the posts is strong, as one might imagine. However, I am definitely not an authority on the subject so if you are interested in a police observer's job then I can only suggest you get along to your local air support unit and speak to them direct. Best of luck, hope you get the job (so you will experience the TCAS problems from the other side of the fence ;) ). |
F/E - overtook Suffolk's aerial finest over Crowfield yesterday evening having been down to see our mutual friend.
You know that uneasy feeling when you pass a police car on a motorway, it's doing 50 in the inside lane and you belt past at a legal 69mph. Well it is exactly the same at 2000'! I expected to be followed home!!!!! Stik |
Hi Skycop, just this morning recieved the info pack relating the job as air observer, based at Wattisham, includes the programme of selection aptitude tests at Cranwell etc.Methinks lots of serving police might already be lining up also Army Air Corps bods.Maybe the 22 to 24 K on offer is a bit below a normal P.C.s wodge so maybe a bit more attractiv to a squaddy,or ex squaddy like myself.Anyway I will give it some thought this w/end,and you may be correct about your x/ponder thread. Bye for now
