Flycom Helmets

Thinking of buying a helmet for my flying (closed cockpit, non-microlight) mainly Chipmunk - anybody got any experience of these ??

They look good and comfortable from the website but apart from that not much to go on.

Any info or recommendations gratefully received.

Thanks

I've tried a couple on. They are very well made, very comfortable.
If they did an ANR version then I would have bought one.
The noise attenuation of having a foam lined helmet rather than a leather strap suspended (such as the RAF issue helmets) is a massive improvement in in comfort and has to be safer as well.

They will also make them in any colour you want.

Flycom

I've used one for the last three years or so and wouldn't use anything else - the noise reduction is far superior to a conventional helmet / headset for open cockpit use.

I've also fitted a Headsets Inc aftermarket ANR kit to mine - though not sure whether that would be necessary in a closed cockpit.

Mine works fine plugged straight in to the built-in intercomm of my Filser ATR 500 radio, though Flycom do an adapter for use in twin-plug GA aircraft.
