Flying Schools

Is anyone at a flying school where they have to wear a uniform.

Im starting my PPL soon and bought a shirt, tie epaulettes etc.. not knowing that there was no need for them. Anyway, now that ive got them ill use them but i was wondering if there are any schools where they are a necessity

Not aware of any in the UK, but one I was looking at in the USA (for a CPL/IR) required me to buy a uniform. They were also way dearer than the next on my list, so I didn't pursue it any further.

I doubt there are many, other than maybe the upmarket ATPL factories.

Best not to use the tie and epaulettes. Not really standard attire for non-airline pilots.Just wear normal stuff and some sensible shoes, and always take a good jacket with you even though it will be warm in the plane, because you never know if you are going to have to force-land somewhere remote or even divert somewhere miles away due to weather.. .Good Luck with the training.. .Ludwig

no need to wear shirt & tie & epaulets. your instructor probably will as they need to create a professional image.

Have to say it was a real shock for me one day after being so used to seeing my instructor suddenly appear in shirt & tie rather than jeans & t-shirt.

jeans, sewatshirt & jacket as well as sensible shoes or trainers should see you fine
