G-ADGP

Did my aged eyes deceive me earlier this afternoon, or did I really see the Miles Hawk Speed Six possibly heading for White Waltham? Something very similar passed over Arborfield heading for WW and I'd love to know if it was the Hawk Speed Six. If it was, and it went to WW, does anyone know how long it will be there so I can pop along with my camera?

Many thanks.

I'll try to ask my neighbour who owns it, but I think he said recently that it is based at WW

Human Factor 3rd June 2009 21:31

Yes, the Miles Hawk lives at WW. Owned by the chap who flies the B-17.

Yes Bren,
It was a Hawk Speed Six and it ended up at the same private fly in at Tisted that the Miles Whitney Straight and the Miles Hawk also attended.
An amazing sight to see them all lined up against the trees.
A lovely day was had by all.
Regards,
Jez.
P.S. I was flying the Whitney Straight - that's how I know!!

Many thanks to every one.... Think we'll be heading for WW soon..

Dear oh dear... I wish I'd known about that fly-in, Jez. If the Whitney Straight was 'AEUJ, I saw that at Biggin Hill in 1963!! Must be my slightly advancing years but Ruth and I just love the oldies..

Yes a lovely day out at tisted, and some rare aircraft present, in the warm sun and beautifull setting. Nice to see so many vintage types out in one day and meet new friends.

Will.

Between 1939 and 1943, a New Zealand machine piloted by Alan Pritchard was used for aerial seed sowing trials at Ninety Mile Beach and later spreading superphosphate. These trials were part of the experiments which lead to the development of aerial topdressing,
Possibly the first aeroplane ever to demonstrate agricultural practices with an aircraft?

MM
Send me an email address and I can send you some photo's.
I've no idea how to post pics on Prune I'm afraid.
If you could "re-process" them onto Prune, you would be most welcome.
Regards,
JC
