Sadly sembach (simple USAF graphic forecasts showing cloud thickness) is down - this is probably the easiest to absorb graphic european low level forecast.
Hopefully it will be up again soon, SB |
Sembach is down quite a lot lately.
I wouldn't mind another website showing the GFS MSLP chart; the one with the fronts marked on it. Genghis' post above is a pretty good one! A good collection. |
Thank you Genghis,good useful site.
Lister:) edited-the more I look there more there is,lots of really useful data at the touch of a button, and no faffing about |
Yes, that weird new fangled thing called the Internet has really undermined traditional PPL training... :)
Things moved on a long time ago, and continue to move on. Apart from Tafs/Metars, I don't think I use any of the "official" weather sources I was taught to use in 2000/01. |
thanks for your replies guys, my wx websites are replenished, plus these are sites I have not viewed before
cheers :ok: |
USAF Sembach forecasts
I see I'm not the only one missing these forecasts - does anyone know what's going on with their site? IMHO their "surface prognosis" charts are the best forecasts around, as they are the only ones which show pressure, fronts, cloud and precipitation on one chart, extend out over half way across the Atlantic, reach out to T+120, and are updated twice daily. Let's hope their site is up again soon!
Genghis - many thanks - I had never heard of the site you posted but it is very, very useful. |
Another useful link is from the Guernsey aero club site (a really good site anyway). Follow the weather link to...
Guernsey Aeroclub Weather Links Page compiled by Mark Dravers Great if you're travelling further afield too. |
Whichever website you use, you can be sure that if you have planned to fly in a few days time based upon a good weather forecast from said website, there will be little similarity to the weather conditions extant when you wake up on the morning of the day in question.
Particularly if it's the Met Office website. |
