Becker Radios
Can anyone advise me on Becker AR3201?
The one fitted in my aircraft is great, only it doesn't remember stored frequencies; I've sussed out from various www sources that the internal button batteries (2 x 2.4v?) probably need replacing. How easy is this, or do I need to remove the radio and give it to someone to fix at huge expense? Any tips (and Becker fixers/dealer whereabouts) appreciated. Cheers, Dave |
Immediately, if not sooner, have the memory battery on the circuit board inside replaced. The battery is soldered to the circuit board, and a competent engineer is needed. In UK they have become difficult to find, and the Becker factory do a good and fast service.
The usual reason for stored frequencies not being retained is a discharged battery. Discharged batteries, if not replaced quickly, leak electrolyte onto the circuit board causing damage needing circuit board replacement (cost about £150 at Becker). |
Thanks Fitter 2! I'll get it looked at asap (or sooner). Dave
