Learning about weather
 

As a recent solo glider pilot I'd like to learn more about the weather and how it relates to flying.

Any good web resources or recommendations on books?

I have some preliminary training docs that go into cloud formations, pressure, fronts etc but would like something a little more "substantial".. especially on the forecasting side

I dont know whether it is available back home in the UK, but a great book which explains it all really well and very comprehensively is 'From The Ground up'. Aviation Publishers

The met office advertise a "Met for aviators" course. The next one is in November at the met office in Exeter.

OK it's not aviation-orientated but he explains all aspects of meteorology in a simple but highly effective manner.

Do you want to learn how to make go/no-go decisions for VFR or for IFR?

Have you been in a glider? The amount of "tap" marks on the panel next to the altimeter gives away just how reliable the instruments are. So landing IFR might be tricky, to say nothing of what the CFI would say :ok:
