Using a plotter

Soo...I got myself a Flightstore FVP-1 plotter for easy calculation of distances and headings in flight, only to remember that I have never actually been taught how to use one! (the inverted compass rose bit I mean)

Anyone willing to spare a couple of minutes to give me a crash course on it please?
