Oaksey Park

Can anyone provide a web address or aerodrome data for Oaksey Park please?

Thanks.

More here.
One point, base leg for 22 should be closer in now - to avoid overflying a neighbour. Keep it west of the railway if posible. Awaiting an updated noise-abatement chart.

Thank you both.

Mike,

I'm thinking of going there on Saturday - is there decent food nearby (village?) and how long does it take to walk there?

Failing that, are there any refreshments available on the airfield?

Thanks.

Nothing on the field but a good pub - The Wheatsheaf half a mile walk away in the village.

Sadly, despite prior warning, The Wheatsheaf was unable to cope on the food front last Friday. We'd warned them to expect "at least 12" for dinner, accepted that it would be a restricted menu to make life easier for them, and turned up early to help. In the event there were 16, not 12 and "at least 12" was translated to "a maximum of 12". Plenty of room to eat and we were happy to have bar snacks and to sink a few beers while we waited but the place is run so as not to upset the "chef" whose limitation seems to be 25 covers a night. Fortunately someone had a car so 4 of us drove several miles to an alternative eatery.

Last year we had similar shenanigans with less people so next year we'll be having a barbecue on the airfield and drinking our own beer rather than the Wheatsheaf's.

Hopefully you won't arrive to find that days quota of covers already taken.

Oaksey Park is delightful and quiet (except when we're there). Take a picnic and eat it in peace sitting on the verandah. You can get a hot drink from a machine in the clubhouse.

Again, thank you both. I may ring the Wheatsheaf in advance but will consider the picnic option.

Can I suggest you call Dick Thrush the Airfield manager before setting off they've a cap on movements due to planning restrictions. I think they also have a movements curfew to avoid disturbing the neighbours. They've had a change if radio frequency which I can't remember off the top of my head, but if you call you can check that and the noise abatement sites. It's a lovely spot i'm sure you'll enjoy it.;)

Already done. The Pooley's plate shows it as PPR, socalled today and had a chat with them (not Dick). Details passed, briefing obtained and PPR given.

Ta.
