G DRAM - a question

I think the owner of G DRAM posts here from time to time. Having a look through !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I came across this photo of G DRAM http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/photo/Reims...ims/1333276/L/
and wondered what the two trailing cables just to the rear of the mainwheels were. Are they anti static discharge wicks or a mooring cable that has slipped off the float - or something else. No particular reason for asking - just curiosity.

Thanks

Uh-oh - another couple of concrete tie-downs embedded in somebody's garden?:}

Water skis ? ;)

planes on floats

all floatplanes have some handhold ropes, most of them at the wing, to help dock the plane....
(unless in this case it s a submarine recovery system)

They are mooring lines - used for quick use when approaching a dock or beach.

Not much use in the middle of Loch Lomond when the engine fails to start!!!.

They look more like the laces from a pair of training shoes ... Nike Air perhaps ?? :p :)

Or could it be a gear down warning?

So as not to turn it into a submarine if you land with the gear down on water?

Newforest2 11th March 2008 18:33

Where is the owner when you want him?

The_Owner 11th March 2008 20:03

#4,#5 and #7 - got it right :) smartypants ! :D

#2,#8 and #9 - win a lochside beer for being very close to the truth :O

#3 - I like your thinking ... need to get longer ropes .... :E

#6 - :ok:

#10 - I think you need a floatplane trip to research that one ;)

#11 - here? :suspect:

#1 - does that answer your question ?

mad_jock 11th March 2008 21:27

Would love to.

The local one that used to be hangered in INV had a max ceiling of 15k and a max depth of 25 meters due to a gear down landing.

Would love to.
I don't think you can spin it MJ. That's your head safe from bashing off the cockpit roof then :ok: :p

mad_jock 12th March 2008 11:55

Hee Hee I think you would have to show me how to spin these days.

Nice shot !! The owner, PH-UKU, is away at the moment but I will point him to this on his return in a few days.

It looks like your perspex was a bit clearer than ours, as I only got a handful of shots which were of any use :)

Drop me your email in a PM and I can send them on.
