IVOPROP Experiences
I am looking for feedback from anyone who has some recent experience (good or bad) using a three blade IVO propellor (ground adjustable).
I am particularly interested in hearing from anybody using one on a Continental 0-200 or similar direct drive unit. We are interested in upgrading a Permit aircraft and wondered if this was a sensible way forward. I have done a search and seen a wide range of comments from the US. Some past comments are really bad but it is possible that things have improved since then (2003). |
I'd have a word with the PFA - sorry - LAA ;)
I seem to remember seeing a list of approved engine/prop combinations on their web site a while ago. |
znww5,
Thanks for that but the reason I am asking is because the LAA need information before they will consider adding a new prop to the list. |
From memory the PFA were very negative on the use of ground adjectable props on direct drive engines. There are a few approvals for Warp Drive props on Continentals (I'm applying for one shortly to boost the number a bit!).
However from memory there are not any Ivoprops over 65hp on geared engines. The approvals list will cocver the UK experience, getting anything the LAA will believe from elsewhere - best of luck. Possibly Australia as they ahve a not dissimilar approval process but anywhere else is unlikely to cut much ice. |

Based on other people’s experience of trying to add new props, you may find it a lot more work than you expect. Rod1 |
