US Mid-Air Collision Avoidance (MACA) programs
In the USA the military run Mid-Air Collision Avoidance (MACA) programs to try and reduce the number of accidents involving military and civil aircraft. One of their initiatives is the See And Avoid website ....
http://www.seeandavoid.org/ I wonder if such a resource would be valuable here in the UK, especially with our more crowded skies. Maybe the same could detail airspace infringements and other safety issues. It seems that the authorities this side of the Atlantic could learn a lot by looking at what is happening in the USA, especially with regard to their use of internet technologies. What does everyone think? |
Interesting site.
Funny how practically the whole map turns orange when you select "airports" ;) It's a different world out there, with hugely greater utility than we have here. Shame they haven't got a button called "GPS approaches"; one could sent that to the CAA !! I don't know about the value. I suppose this is how a notam display could be organised. |
