Was that a Tucano?

Flying over my house this afternoon?

10 miles north of Gloucester EGBJ?

I heard it a bit earlier but it's just gone over twice, to the east then back to the west and I caught sight of it, bright red and looked to be travelling at about 300 knots at around 1000 feet.

Now that looks like fun...

There is one thats about to be released onto the private register, but I dont think its been airbourne in its GA guise yet.

That thing is incredibly fast. Saw it last year, it was second only to the frontline jets in terms of the display. Super!

Runaway Gun 13th July 2007 11:47

That's the PC-21 I was thinking of BS. Is there also red Tucano 'coming out'?

NutLoose 13th July 2007 12:02

The ones being released for the UK market can be seen and purchased here

www.everettaero.com you can pick a Jag or Harrier up too...... :)

Humaround 13th July 2007 14:12

Barshifter - pretty sure that was the one I saw. How fast do you think it was going? I'm used to seeing aircraft in that part of the sky and compared to a Warrior at c 100knots, I'd say this was AT LEAST 3x faster. What's its top speed?

Barshifter 13th July 2007 14:26

Humaround

Top speed Im not sure about.

Found this though a video of it in action in Germany.

Max level speed about 350 kts. Vne around 400 !!

XL319 13th July 2007 20:48

i reckon you'd need a small mortgage for a tucano:sad:

Megaton 14th July 2007 17:12

I've only flown it half a dozen times and I am most defintely on expert but I'd say it would be worth spending a small fortune to buy one. Not tremendously difficult to fly but with stacks of performance and moderately frugal.

First tucano on the civil register is still in bits in the hangar, negotiations with the CAA on operating it are still continuing and work will not proceed until these negotiations are complete.
