logbook software
Has anyone tried the Logbook pro software? just looking for some software for my laptop...
I tried the demo and it looks and feels good, quite indepth software but Its probably been built around FARs...just curious to see if anyone actually uses it and if they like it? |
I use Safelog, does everything I need as a PPL.
|
Skylog Pro for the last six years. Wouldn't be without it. The £70 outlay was well worth the time saving in laboriously updating a paper logbook.
|
I use the logbook pro software, I like it, also have the pda version on my phone so I can enter flights as I do them and then sync it with the main version on the pc every so often, it also has some good features like analyser which tells you straight away how current you are, day, night, SEP, MEP etc, aslo keeps track of your ratings and medical, also you can print it out in various formats

fantastic mcgoo. There is nothing in flying that this guy does not know about, why he is not a moderator I dont know:ok:
Only problem is what will happen if you have ur phone nicked? not only will you loose the numbers of all u mates, but all your recent flying as well. Why not try BaboonLog, (as used at Air Baboon and Badoon Flight Training), simply an excel spread sheet set up to record and add up hours in the same way as any logbook software. It can do anything that can be done by logbook pro.. If anyone wants it pm me. I do charge a small fee though, 10 bananas, no less. |
if the phone gets nicked so what, like I said it gets synced with the pc, numbers are backed up on an old phone, not rocket science, stop smoking the drugs and little things like that become clear, instead of playing made up airlines !:E
|
yeh,but what happens if u loose ur phone before it has been synced? eh? hadnt thought of that one had u! Drugs, me? the only thing baboon boy smokes is dried banana skins.
;) As I have always said, anyone who spends 70 quid on logbook software has been taken to the cleaners. Excel does the same job perfectly. Oh and by the way, Air Baboon is not a made up airline. Check out our website for proof. www.flybaboo.com. |
Baboon -
If you lose your phone before you've had chance to sync it, it's exactly the same as losing your paper logbook before you have chance to enter it on the computer, or losing your laptop/cd/memory stick before you have chance to put it in your paper book, isn't it? Having said that, I spent a day creating an excel spreadsheet and it works a dream! |
Silly me! I'll ask for a refund.:ugh:

I bought SkyLog Pro, unfortunately. As soon as I have more time I will transfer to something better. Its not worth the money and is years out of date in terms of the style of its GUI.
It also seems to have very limited import/export, the pocket PC "conduit" is far from straightforward to setup (and it doesn't leave your log data on the pocket pc) the reports are inflexible, the data entry is clunky, I could go on... Basically its little more than a very rudimentary database application, absoultely no sophistication about it. |
It would cost me more to sit about all day programming Excel than it has done to buy Logbook Pro.
|
Get a Mac and use LogTen Pro! Cant be doing with all this microsoft rubbish :E
|
Search on 'Electronic Logbook' comes up with this. I've just started using it and found it simple and easy to use. Best of all it's free, so I can spend more on flying!

Excel sheets..
Are these sheets available to download from anywhere? Posting 10 bananas wouldn't really work...!
|
I've recently bought skylog pro and am very happy with it, can easily update once a week and it takes a few mins for 10-20 sectors. Think it's a nice bit of kit, doesn't look that flashy but don't really care to much about that...so yeah all in all, pretty happy with it...
|
I second the vote for a mac :) and get Log Ten Pro 2
|
I have just had a look at this and it is probably fine for some, but certainly for someone flying professionally it is too restrictive, Won't let me put in MEJ for example and only has space for about 15 aircraft, which for even a PPL with some time under his belt I would have thought could be a bit limiting.:(
|
Mcgoo, how much do you claim to earn per hour? It would only take that time to programme an excel spread sheet. Ur telling me you earn 70quid per hour? I do not beleive it, even for a man of your calibre.
And your current plan regarding the mobile phone system is in my opinion still a disaster waiting to happen.. if anybody wants a copy of "BaboonLog" excel spread sheet they can PM me, so long as I get my 10 bananas, which can be sent to:- Baboon Boy, Ngorongoro Baboon Troop, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania. |

Sorry, my fault, I was talking about the Excel based one.
