Hi all,

Im going to MRU soon for a month, do you think i could get some flying hours and learn to fly down in Mauritius while im there or not? I cant find any sites of schools

Hi - I have not seen any schools nor any Light airplanes. Enjoy your stay

There was a flight school there, it was called Aero Club les Alizes. It had a nnice 4 place Robin, but was mainly a club for already licenced pilots. I worked there for a bit, it was a great place, but not really conducive to learning to fly, ie you couldnt fly over the inland sections on the island! Just stay coastal!!

There was a change afoot when I left to get the licencing system up and running and changes made, but its a slow process in that country, so I wouldnt be suprised if they are still awaiting approval. Ask around in some local Mauritius forums or ask for the above name with some locals or the airport authority ( there is just one airport, unless the reopened the Grand Bay strip )

Be warned flying and instruction was carried out in French.
