Garmin Pilot III

Can anyone recommend these? I have been offered one for reasonable money.I am still early on in my PPL (7hrs) but thought one of these might be useful for the future.
Any comments welcome.

A lovely little device for your first step into GPS - I still have mine but I don't use it for flying any more.

The only thing to check is the currency of the included database. The GPSIII is no longer a production item so check that you can still get updates.

A fantastic first choice. I got one during my PPL. It has a lot of features, many of which you won`t use,it is that comprehensive. Check out the manual....

I got a 196 when I passed my IMC, but can`t bring myself to sell the III pilot!!!! Databases available for about £25.

Great bit of kit. Screen's a bit small, but its the only GPS that's compact enough to sit on the Chippy's instrument coaming (so it gets a good view of the sky) without obscuring the view forward.

Batteries last around 10 hours. I love it!

I use these in my cessnas linked to fs450 fuel flow meters and they are MEGA! For the money you can't go wrong.
