Insurance

Just something useful I've just spotted.

If you go onto G-INFO at http://www.caa.co.uk/application.asp...pplicationid=1 and search on an aircraft registration, there's a new link at the bottom.

It allows you to determine the minimum legal insurance requirements for the aircraft.

Accepting that CAA weren't responsible for the new insurance rules, it must be admitted that they're being jolly helpful.

EU Insurance Requirements

There appears to be a difference in the requirements between an aircraft used for Commercial purposes and also in regard to 'War Cover', whether or not the aircraft will be used across international borders.

Does 'Commercial' also mean those aircraft used by a flying club for the giving of flying instruction and hired to fellow members for self hire but NOT for the carriage of fare paying passengers?

If an aircraft is not expected to be taken across an international border is 'War Cover' required?

Is baggage insurance required if not used for the carriage of fare paying passengers?

It's just an indication of the minimum amount of cover required. You'll get a more accurate price from a broker:) All the same it's useful as a yardstick for comparing the relative costs for insuring various types eg C172 and Pa28 or AA5 for instance.:ok:

Yep,
I just transfered the registration from the previous owner for my new plane and had to submit proof of insurance. I initially sent the cover note, but had to fax over the whole insurance document as they (The CAA) specifically wanted to see the war cover.
