Hello all,

Does anyone have the contact details for Lamberhurst please?

Also, if anyone could give a brief description of runway directions, length etc and whether it's grass or tarmac, I'd much appreciate it.

Have looked in Lockyears but it's not there.

Its maked on the quarter mil.

Lamberhurst Airstrip is about 1000 yds of well kept grass but it quickly gets too wet to use in the winter. Tall trees at one end can cause problems but a Harvard was operated from there for many years and a Spitfire for a short time.

Just don't bank on light refreshment after you've landed...

Coincidentally, I paid a (non-flying) visit to Lamberhurst Vineyard on bank holiday Monday. Both the pub and the bistro had stopped taking food orders and were actively turning people away at about 2pm, despite both being less than half full (or more than half empty).

Apparently they hadn't realised that on the first real holiday weekend of the year, and with nice weather, people might want to pop in and eat and drink... Oh well, the wine from the shop is lovely and the countryside nearby (including Bewl Water) is worth a look.

The Champ visited last year and was welcomed by the residents (so was I but the Champ's better looking).

A narrow strip, but otherwise more than sufficient.

Err, oops. In the spirit of absolute honesty, I'm now admitting to a senior moment and acute embarrassment: it was Laddingford. :uhoh:

Last chap who planned to use Lamberhurst for such activities ended up 'aving 'is collar felt!

I'd get a bigger plane too.
