I wasn't suggesting what I believed to be the rules meant, simply the rules I set myself when flying in a VFR type. The last thing I would want to attempt would be an IMC autorotation in a Robbie! |
IO540- thanks.
In UK ATS Airspace Classifications, it makes no reference to remaining in sight of the surface when above 3000' amsl. I see one has to read the ANO to discover the extra restriction of being in sight of the surface if you have a PPL with no IMC rating. |
Without having the relevant rules to hand, I seem to recall the "in sight of the surace" rule only applied when one is below 3000' I see one has to read the ANO to discover the extra restriction of being in sight of the surface if you have a PPL with no IMC rating. |
No, wasn't confusing with IFR. The UK criteria for VFR flight specifies below FL100 vis 5km, 1500m and 1000' from cloud. No mention of being in sight of the surface unless below 3000''.
The privileges of the PPL are dictated by the ANO hence my point of having to read it to to discover the further restriction on VFR for PPLs with regard to being in sight of the surface. I am becoming increasingly disillusioned with Pprune; when you try to share your thoughts with others and invite clarification, confirmation or correction, you are frequently met with a hostile scolding, as is the tone of your post Chilli Monster. |
No scolding or hostile tone meant - just a genuine comment of maybe that was what you were referring to - you have to admit the two are extremely similar.
Same as with my second comment - again, not hostile, just a matter of fact. Such privileges should be explained properly during the tuition phase, rather than the poor student having to delve through books which probably seem quite frightening and intimidating on first contact. ( I know they scare the willies out of me - and I'm meant to know them ;) ) No need to be disillusioned - maybe just relax on the oversensitivity. |
Hasn't this been done to death before? You boys might be here for some time! Chilli Monster, tell em whats what and end all this misery! Listen to Chilli......HE'S RIGHT!!!!;)
|
Sorry, Chilli, I should have been more specific.
It is the last sentence of your post which I consider hostile and rather condescending. I accept your insistence it was not meant. |
