Flying in Norway

I'm off to Norway this weekend, and the friend I'm visiting has arranged for us to go flying while I'm there. I've got a JAA PPL(A), but for obvious checkride reasons there will be an instructor along too.

If anyone here has flown over there and has any hints/tips on what it's like to fly there or things I should be aware of then it would be greatly appreciated if you would care to share that knowledge.

Thanks!

It's a beautiful place to fly, with uncrowded skies and lots of small airfields around to drop into. The people are great and English is widely spoken, often better than wot it is 'ere!

You don't say where in Norway you'll be, but wherever it is you'll have some memorable flying assuming the weather co-operates.

It is normal practice to file flight plans even for internal flights if you're away from populated areas, which means most of the time!

There's some useful stuff on the Norwegian Good Aviation Practice web site.

The Norwegian Aero Club have a shop in the centre of Oslo opposite the big SAS Radisson hotel.

I flew myself there and back in May and I can't wait to go back.
