Crash on Lundy

Didn't think the runway there was *that* long really...?

surely the strip is too short for a PA24 ?

Taildragger 4th July 2004 21:37

Depends how heavy it was, and what direction the wind was coming from. It's 400m long, so it is a bit iffy.

PA24? Article states Cessna 172...

Whichever, a sad incident, thankfully not worse.

It was a 172.

Oh dear, it seems to be one of those weekends.......

I dealt with an emergency myself yesterday. Happily, a safe landing ensued.

I hope the pilot goes on to make a full recovery.

Also, condolences to family and friends of those involved in the LPL accident.

Article in the Metro newspaper today regarding this incident. The headline a little ott unsurprisingly. 'Airshow Pilot saved crowd' it goes on to say 'A pilot risked his life to save spectators when his light aircraft crashed at an airshow'. It goes on to name the pilot and has a picture of the wreckage in flames.
I cannot find an electronic link to the article, can scan and post the image if anyone's interested.
