Irish Aopa

There is a NEW "Irish AOPA" being formed.

We need pilots from Ireland to get involved in this organization.

We have been without a proper voice for a few years, but with a bit of hard work and your help we can have an AOPA that will work for the aircraft owners and pilots of Ireland (North & South).

Our office will be based in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

Please contact us at

Good luck Tony.

Can I suggest that for inspiration you look to your AOPA cousin in the west.

Delighted to hear that Tony, I'll be a member just as soon as I get my PPL.

It's about time, we need it badly!

Sounds like a great idea.
Do I sign up my mailing the above address?

Tony,

How will this benefit pilots from N Ireland?

Will you be linked to other AOPAs

Ken

At the moment we are forming a temporary board of directors from about 30 interested pilots / owners.

Please email us to express your interest and we will get back to you.

It is our intention to have a meeting to elect officers as soon as possible.

Irish AOPA will have "affiliate status" with International AOPA, and will represent Irish G.A. North & South with regard to Airports, IAA / CAA matters and many other issues.

Wishing you well. Letterkenny lovely part of the country. Flew over last weekend seemed to be an airfield east of the town by the river, but nothing on the Jeppesen, CAA or Irish Charts or in the Bottlang. Is it open for use?

Great news! My e-mail is on the way.

MQ.

p.s. TonyR, can you check your PMs? Thanks.

Holyflyer, the details of the Letterkenny airfield (EILT) are in the Irish edition of Pooleys. Don't know why it is absent from all charts!

Letterkenny is open but be carful on the hard, it is quite narrow and is paved with quarry dust so watch your prop on take off.

Grass is ok at the moment but can be soft after heavy rain.

Many thanks for info on Letterkenny. Will make enquiries next time I'm over. I have friends near Cresslough. Carrickfinn is a lovely airport but an hours drive round the coast and through the mountains.

Best of luck with Irish Aopa
