Medical

Could somebody tell me how different the JAA/CAA 2 Medical is to the FAA level 3 one? How long does the FAA medical last? Do the check everything like on the JAA medical? Do you have an ECG?

Thanks

FAA class 3 is good for 24 months. No ecg until at least 50yrs old (or maybe that's class 2), I've never had an ecg yet for a CPL.

FAA Class 3 is good for 36 months if under 40....

FAA Class 2 is valid for 12 months, then reverts to a Class 3 for a further 2 years (very sensible in my opinion).

FAA Class 1 is valid for 6 months, then as a class 2 for a further 6 months, then a class 3 for a further 24 months as far as I can remember.

I think ECG is required at the initial class 2 IF over 40, otherwise its when you reach 40.

FAA class 2 has no ecg requirement at 40 (I'm past that one already). I've just taken a squint at FAR part 67 and it only specifies an ecg requirement (first at 35 and annually after 40) for class 1.

Ah right, strange though, the AME at my last medical in March said I'd need one at 40.....

FD will be able to clarify though ;)
