Pilatus PC6 type rating

Hi guys!

Where in Europe could I get a Pilatus PC6 rating?
And how much money should I expect to give for it?
Are there good chances to work with Turbo Porter in Europe? And abroad?

Every kind of reply is well accepted...

Bye bye

A lot of turbine Porters work as skydiving jump ships in Europe.

Just a small point. The PC-6 is not a 'Type' it's a 'Class' (Pilatus SET).

This means that you don't need to go to an approved type rating training organisation to get the class rating. You just need an instructor qualified on the class to give you as much instruction as he thinks is necessary and then an examiner to fly the Licensing Skill Test. The other good bit is that the rating has a 2-year validity rather than the 12 months that a type rating has.

Negative, sir

I am reading my JAR-FCL and in paragraph 1.220 b) it says:

"Type ratings for aeroplanes shall be established for:

(1) each type of multi-pilot aeroplane; or
(2) each type of single-pilot multi-engine aeroplane fitted with turbo-prop or turbojet engines; or
(3) each type of single-pilot single-engine fitted with a turbojet engine; or
(4) any other type of aeroplane if considered necessary..

In my opinion, Pilatus PC6 as you know, is a single-pilot e single-turbojet, so I think it should be a TYPE rating, not a CLASS one.
Don't you think...

Ciao (Bye bye) !!!

A PC6 has got a PT6. That's a turboprop, not a turbojet.

What you need to fly the PC6 is a Single-Engine Turboprop (Land) - Single pilot Class rating (and differences training if you did your class rating on another type within that class).

JAR-FCL 1.215 is the reference.

See the appendix for a list of the types included i the class and the differences training required as well as the requirement of ATPL knowledge for the TBM700.

You're right

Yeah, I'm sorry... I didn't pay attention to the distinction between turbojet and turboprop in the Jars...
So you are right, Pilatus PC6 requires only a class rating...

Where Could I get it in Europe? Anywhere but not at Pilatus factory, it's really too expensive!!!

Would you suggest it to one of your friend?

I haven't made up my mind yet about do it or not do it... I love Pilatus and maetbombing but I also know that with PC6 it's really hard to live on...

Any suggestion is well accepted...

Ciao ciao(bye bye)
