Yep, flew this summer with an 11000 hour SC pilot from Alaska who had a set of pics like that of his own, one ofwhich related to water in the fuel. He was PARANOID about checking for water, understandably!

The pattern on the underside of the aeroplane in the first piccie is not that of a Cub and the second picture is certainly not a Cub.

Look at the wings and the empanage.

OK, guys - I made the fatal mistake of a quick look at a couple of piccies on a SuperCub site which allegedly contains piccies of Cubs and not looking too closely. My a/c recce never was up to much!! ;)

PS I still like the piccies, whatever aircraft they are!!

First pic IS a Super Cub, albeit one fitted with some kind of belly pack. The machine dropped through the ice looks like a straight-tail C170 or similar to me.

You cannot over-use the carb heat control in any A-65 equipped Cub. The little Continental may be one of the most reliable aero engines of all time, but it is highly prone to carb icing.

Little-known factoid: in the USA, Continental motors called themselves just that because, in the early part of the 20th century, technology from the Old World had a far better reputation than the home-grown equivalent. How times change!
