Flying in Sao Paulo (Brazil)
I´m nearing the end of my training for my PPL and I was considering that I´d like to do a lot of flying in the Sao Paulo region when licensed (I spend a large portion of each year here). However, after searching PPrune and other flight sites I have been unable to yield any comprehensive information on private hire or what is needed in terms of license conversion.
If someone has practical experience of hiring/flying in this part of the world, I´d greatly appreciate some help with the following questions: i) Any recommendation for a flying club? Is there a GA scene at GRU? ii) What are the general costs of aircraft hire for say the usual SEP such as a C172 or Warrior? iii) What is needed for issuance of a license in Brazil? Can one fly with the UK PPL? iv) Are there any quirkies that I need to be aware of about flying in Brazil? Thanks very much for any help with this! |
Hi mate. This is the best I can come up with. Some good info on the site . If you do find more results could you please post them here for others to use in the future for searches etc.
Thanks and good luck, Brl. |
Hi BRL,
Thx for the reply, although your link seems to be missing! Ive just found on Google Groups a link to the Sao Paulo Aero Club (http://www.aeroclubesp.com.br)´, is this what you were referring to? They seem to have a decent fleet of aircraft, some of which must be custom to Brazil only (made by Embraer?)?!: PA28 - R$257 per hour Aeroboero - R$194 per hour Tupi - R$312 per hour ArrowII - R$363 per hour Decathalon 8 - R$307 per hour Seneca - R$808 per hour At the v. rough exchange rate of R$5 = 1GBP, those are decent prices! So I seem to have answered some of my questions, although I´m none the wiser with regards to iii) and iv)! On my next visit to Sao Paulo I´ll check these guys out and see what further information they can provide me with. |
A Brazilian friend has come up trumps and sent me pages with the links to the various flying clubs in Brazil:
http://www.cenipa.aer.mil.br/paginas...aeroclubes.htm http://geocities.yahoo.com.br/aerinf/links.html They seem to be comprehensive enough. Hope that this information is useful for future searches on PPrune :D |
Hi there. Sorry about the missing link.!!! here it is, http://www.infraero.gov.br/
Thanks for posting the other links, much appreciated. Good luck, Brl. I have also just found this thread South America. :ok: |
