Aircraft hire / use
A big help....
I have recently qualified from Oxford and have my Frozen ATPL with single and twin ratings on my licence. I like many others have not walked into the right hand seat of a taxi never mind a commercial airliner!!! So with bills to pay I find get myself a job working for an aviation company based at bournemouth int. airport..Great i hear you all say..but home for me is the North East of England!!! Well if i cant fly them i will sell them!! Now here is where the begging starts. I am surrounded by loads lovely aircraft inc. PC12 but am not allowed to fly them. and i want to fly..Does any one operate a single or twin out of Bournemouth or nearby airfield but is also from up north and who wants some company if they travel up north for weekends to be with there loved ones!! They can sleep I will fly..... And to maintain this begging does anyone know of where i can hire aircraft around the bournemouth area that doesnt increase my debts to that of a small third world country... Thankyou for yor time |
Not a lot of help I know...but Jet2 fly out of leeds & are a subsidiary of Channel Express...based at Bo'mo...dunno if they have regular flights between the two but if so...perhaps some begging may get ya' somewhere.

Not quite what you're asking for, but I have a share in a PA28-161 at Popham (about an hour's drive from Bournemouth) which I irregularly use for business trips. Nothing planned at the moment (but about 12 hours in the last couple of weeks, you should have posted sooner!) , and our syndicate rules don't allow non-syndicate members to log time on it but if you want to come along on the odd long trip, usually in the week, take the right hand seat and either fly or navigate you'd be welcome to come along with the proviso that although I'm paying for the flying anyway, you'll obviously need to sit around wherever I'm going and possibly find yourself a B&B.
Alternatively, there are lots of aeroplanes around Popham for (relatively) inexpensive hire (C172 around £75/hr I think), or fairly cheap syndicates. Ours runs two aeroplanes - the PA28 at £50/hr+£35mth, and a C152 at about £35/hr+£30mth; that's one of the better syndicates at the field but not unique and if you drop in and take a look at the notice board there are a lot of syndicates, most of which are large and therefore usually have one or two shares going. Or take my standard advice and spend £3-4k on a dirt cheap PFA single seater that'll cost you about £15/hr to run. G |
Genghis - what's the best website (IYO) for cheap PFA aircraft?
|
Well, apart from the PFA's, I'd try http://www.afors.co.uk/ although there's not much on there at the cheap end today.
