weather briefing websites....
 

I fear this topic may have been done to death on this site somewhere - but I haven't managed to find it through searches........

So my question:
Are there any good (pref. free) weather forecasting / aviation weather briefing sites on the web?

I use the met office one - but would like three day forecasts and visibility info. etc. This is only available through the subscription services.
My school use PilotBriefInternational - but that is expensive and not aimed at individuals.

just checking that I'm not missing out on some free gem of the internet that everyone else knows about!!!

There's a selection of weather sites here, including the one Evo has already pointed out which is one of the best around I think.

Ah, thanks Fly - it's got a working link to this one. I used to think it was quite good and then it vanished a year or so ago. Seems to have swapped .com for .net and returned.

Also, quite a lot of good free WX here - you can pay credits for the more detailed stuff, but at least it's usage based - you don't sign up for a sub, just pay when you need it.

Ah brilliant Evo, thanks for that link. It was my favourite until, as you said, it went quiet.

UK Met office, French Met office & 1 of my favourites, is a French GA site that can give you airfield info as well as met for most airfields in Western Europe, www.nav2000.com

It is in French but easy to understand, Wx is given as per standard TAFs & METARs.

I tried to get a weather chart or info through the internet which gave cloud info in base and tops and layers if any, but cound not find one. Could anyone point me to such info?

Bluskis, the info you are looking for is on MetForm 214, which is on the Met Office website.
