HOWELL -- A man died and his son was critically injured yesterday when their plane, running low on fuel, crashed into the woods about a mile from Monmouth Executive Airport.

The plane, which the Federal Aviation Administration said was on its way from Sarasota, Fla., to Stratford, Conn., crashed around 3:15 p.m. yesterday in the woods about a half-mile south of Megill Road and 50 feet from the Howell-Wall line, said Howell police Lt. Robert Scott.

Paul Bray, 75, of Bradenton, Fla., was killed in the crash, according to a statement released last night by township police. His son, Peter A. Bray, 48, of Norwalk, Conn., was listed in critical condition at the trauma unit of Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.

Here's more on this. The man operated an air taxi service, and was a recognised expert on aviation safety.

Another story is about his injured son, Peter. He is lying in a hospital here, and his wife cannot even get to hold his hand. Alma bray can't come to the USA from her native Lithuania because she overstayed her visa by a few days.The ruling is another case of over-reaction of 9-11.

Longtime Westport Aviation Expert Paul Bray Dies in Crash
Whenever local or national media needed an expert to comment on a plane crash, they called Paul Bray Jr. of Westport.

He knew his stuff. As head of Westport-based Aviation Technical Consultants Inc., he was often called in to consult on plane crash investigations or searches for lost aircraft.

Monday Bray, 75, died in a plane crash near Howell Township, N.J. His son, Peter Bray, 48, of Norwalk, was listed in critical condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center's trauma unit.

Authorities said their single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza A-36 aircraft was trying to land at nearby Monmouth Executive Airport when it went down over a wooded area.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the plane took off from Florida at about 10:15 a.m. and was bound for Stratford's Sikorsky Airport. Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft was trying to land in Monmouth to refuel when it went down about 3:15 p.m.

Sikorsky Airport was Bray's longtime base of operations. As an aviation consultant and pilot for more than 50 years, he often analyzed air crashes for the FAA and insurance companies.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
