Bulldog Syndicates
 

Does anyone know of any Bulldog syndicates I can contact in the North West . Its an aircraft I would love to fly again.

Prestwick Flying Club has a Bulldog , its a syndicate of ex Bulldog engineers and FI's.

NW England but cheers guys anyway. I assumed ther might be a bit of a glut of them after the MOD sales.

The RAF got rid because the airframes were at or near the limit of their fatigue index. Once they go above this fatigue index, they are not airworthy - at least in the CAA's opinion. The fatigue index is greatly affected by G, so if the aircraft isn't doesn't fly aerobatics, the fatigue index will hardly change, and an aicrafft that it near it's limit may remain flyable for a number of years.

The FAA allow the Bulldogs to fly in the Experimental category with no regard to the Fatigue Index, thus a number of Bulldogs have been exported to the US.

There are airworth examples for hire at Gloster and Coventry.

Next best thing might be a 150HP Pup. Not quite as aerobatic, but not quite as shagged out.

Yup, Carlisle definitely has an ex Oxford UAS Bulldog on site (parks next to our a/c in the hangar), but haven't been there long enough yet to find out who owns it and whether there are shares available. A quick visual inspection and it certainly looks to be in better nick than the 'dogs I flew with NUAS some 12 years ago. Those posh southern softies obviously didn't give the old girl a good seeing to like we did!;)

Its not that our pilots and Studes didn`t fly them hard, it`s just that we maintained them better at Benson.

Ah ha! Pilots AND studes - just as I suspected. Too much 16th century French literature and stuffy educational nonsense - why didn't they all go to a proper uni with a proper UAS?;) ;) ;) :p
